Feel – how our  present and past history has affected our bodies

Move – learn to move beyond our ‘limitations’ in a safe aware way, to release tension and restore

Claire Corson – Somatic Movement Education

‘Identify & release stuck stress in the body’

The classes will be designed to target the effects of stress, being this is a particularly stressful time for us all with the huge changes and uncertainty that Covid-19 has brought to the world! Claire Corson – Somatic Movement Education

Our bodies regularly respond to stress with natural (automatic) reflex patterns. If we get stuck in these patterns our bodies can develop pain and dysfunction (Sensory Motor Amnesia – SMA). With Somatic Movement Education (SME) you use your brain to ‘reprogram’ your muscles so they can relax to their natural resting length. As you reduce the Sensory Motor Amnesia in the system your brain also regains better sensation and control of your muscles, so you can move with more ease and grace, fluidly and ultimately pain free.

The sessions will start and end with a relaxing somatic scan, bringing awareness into our bodies via the breath. The middle section will cover gentle somatic movements which are undertaken in a very slow mindful way. They are designed to reconnect the mind and body in a functional way and to release tension from targeted areas.
